Thor: Ragnarok: This third big screen installment in the Thor series has our Marvel superhero losing his hammer while finding he has a long lost big sister, Hela, Goddess of Death (Cate Blanchett), whom is set on destroying Thor’s homeland of Asgard, while he is trapped across the universe on a bizarre planet ruled by, of all people, Jeff Goldblum. Dazzling visual effects, several fun cameo appearances and a look reminiscent of 1980’s Flash Gordon, underscores a cleverly weird, funny story that doesn’t take itself so seriously, and in doing so, creates a very fun, entertaining ride. Chris Hemsworth is charming, stunning and funny and Blanchett makes a spectacular villain. B+
