In the society we live today your appearance is everything. From how your body looks, to the clothes you wear, to how well taken care of your skin. I didn’t value skin care until I was in the ladder years of high school. I tried nearly everything and my skin didn’t react the best to just any kind of exfoliate, cleanser, cream, moisturizer or oil. I discovered it is best to know what works for your skin and the first step to that is knowing your skin type. One being dry or the other being oily. My skin is on the oily side. Everyone is different so I will discuss five basic ways to keep your skin right and tight. These steps can help anyone who is interested in having healthy skin. Even to those who are not up on the skin game can learn a thing or two about having good well maintained skin.

1. Make water your bestie
Make drinking water a habit. Water helps keep the wrinkles away and also flushes away impurities and toxins out of your system keeping your face fresh and clear. This reduces breakouts and acne.
2. Little to no fried foods (fried foods are the devil)
We all have this weakness for something fried in our life. French fries, fried chicken, fried rice I mean the list goes on and on. But what some people don’t know is that fried foods can dehydrate the skin thus also means toxins will come out of your skin… and pow hello breakouts. Basically, reversing all the great things water does for you.
3. Moisturize!
Points 1 and 2 discuss how to keep skin healthy based on what you eat and drink right. Now the more obvious point: the kind of moisturizer and skin creams/oils you use greatly affect your skin and this varies per skin type. Like what I mentioned earlier Dry vs oily skin. Which one are you? If you’re not sure it’s probably a good idea to make an appointment with a dermatologist or simply ask a skin care professional who does facials. My facilist confirmed that I indeed have oily skin. Knowing your skin type is a good start to know what moisturizers to go for or which ones to avoid. And if you don’t know exactly what your skin type is and you want to start using a moisturizer of anytime, I would go to a CVS or Walgreens and go into the skin care section and simply pick up on jar of Vaseline, Moisturizer cream for oily skin and dry. This is all relative to just the face. As for the body you can never go wrong with Vaseline brand moisturizer and gels. They give off that perfect shine while keeping your skin smooth and moist.
4. Mixing it up
There’s nothing wrong with mixing things up. Especially when it comes to washing your face and even your body with certain exfoliants, scrubs and foaming cleansers. When I was introduced to the Clarisonic Brush I was fascinated by the different brushes I could use at the same time I had to be aware that my skin was sensitive and I should only use the soft sensitive brush vs the more direct deep pore brush I should use sparingly. Although this product is pricey, its very useful and I have been locked on it for nearly 6 years. When mixing things up with a product like this you can use some foams and exfoliants here and there. Not to say you can’t do that with a rag. I do a two-step wash for my face. At first I may either use an exfoliant wash then finish off with a foam cleanser and one day out of the week usually Wednesday (hump day hello!) or Thursday I use a mask whether a peel type of mask or a mask you can rinse away. There’s many foaming cleansers out there to use across the board to help purify your face. Don’t be afraid to mix things up just a little bit and see what works for you. Like I mentioned before everyone has a different reaction.
5. Rest up (Less Partying = Less Wrinkles)
Rest is very important not only for your skin but also your entire body. Lack of rest and sleep will show on your face over time. So take into consideration how much you sleep and also ask yourself if you’re getting enough rest. We live in a world where we always have to hustle to make ends meet or maybe feel like we have to party excessively to fit in. Sometimes you have to chill out and relax and get the rest needed to recover and allow your body to replenish the healthy elements that keep your skin in mint condition.
So those are the five simple ways to keep your skin right and tight. Keep your water game up and be very aware of what you eat and what you put on your skin. Feel free to DM me if you need any advice.
